Check the drum as well. If it's tripping the RCD, it could be that the drum is siezed/very stiff. Check that it rotates freely, and that if you grab the inside of the drum, there should be no forward/aft movement, no up down movement of the rotating part within the housing, which would indicate bearings knackered.

Just started yesterday have empties drained and got door open. Plugged in still had old cycle timer left but door was open so reset cycle. Tried to just do spin and pump cycle which I was able to select, started spin/pump immediate trip, reset RCD turn on again old spin cycle still active immediately trips.

Sep 21, 2006 · It's really easy to inadvertently overload a circuit that has to power a motor. Ideally the washing machine should have a "dedicated" circuit. Second, have an electrician check the circuit out. You could possibly have a "weak" breaker. If neither of the above works, plan on replacing the motor or the washing machine, whichever is more economical. RCDs trip when there is an electrical short or too much current is demanded through the RCD, either situation in a washing machine requires an engineer to check it our. Remember, not only does electricity kill, it can also lead to fire.
